If a few cleanings don't clear a problem, let it sit over night and try again. If there is a clog, and a few cleanings didn't fix it, my advice is to wait a day and try again. If the yellow cart is empty, then the ink is leaking out somewhere, and your issue may not be a clogged head (although repeated cleanings without yellow ink may have now damaged the head).

If it really is 50% full, you should be able to tell that it is heavier than an empty cartridge. Is it as light as an empty cartridge? If so, it may actually be out of ink.
